Liverpool fans send touching messages to Sean Cox after his recent video

Liverpool fans have sent well-wishes to fellow supporter Sean Cox following the touching video message which appeared online on Thursday.

In the short clip the Irishman said: "Thank you" and raised his thumb up to the camera.

The Meath-native sustained life-altering injuries after being assaulted outside Anfield last April ahead of the Reds' Champions League tie with Roma.

His attacker is now jailed but Sean's road to recovery continues, with his rehabilitation ongoing.

Fans took to social media to send Mr Cox and his family positive messages of support.

Cathy Bruce Hastie expressed her pride for the city of Liverpool in her comment which read: "What a true fighter. The people of Liverpool, red and blue, make me so proud sometimes, and this is one of those moments."

Scott Glover shared a similar message: "It’s true what they say blue or red you’ll never walk alone and the people of Liverpool proved that".

John Herbert said: "YNWA - Best of luck with your ongoing recovery! Enjoy tonight".

Brian Doyle replied: "Sean you are a of man of steel wishing you the best very best in your recovery".

Mark Davies added: "Wishing you a full and speedy recovery Sean, YNWA".

Catey Lopez commented: "Good vibes to you Sean." While Gary Slater wrote: "Good to see he's doing better. I hope his charity game provide the financial support he needs to help him to keep improving."

Pauline Bennett sent her well-wishes in a comment that read: "Keep going Sean you have come a long way, love and best wishes to you and your amazing family and friends in helping you on the road to recovery".

On Friday night a charity match will take place at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Over 25,000 people are set to attend the game in raise funds for the Sean Cox Rehabilitation Trust.

And the 54-year-old will leave hospital for the first time to attend the special occasion.

The game will see a Liverpool Legends XI managed by Sir Kenny Dalglish and captained by Ian Rush take on an Ireland Legends XI.

Liverpool singer Jamie Webster will be performing some songs on the pitch ahead of the match.
