Fans also got involved with the debate on social media.

Many had concerns about any potential transfer fee as well as wages with Bale currently earning a reported weekly wage of £350,000 per week in Spain.

One supporter wrote: "Nope, too injury prone and makes no sense financially."

Another fan would like to see Bale play for Liverpool but was also concerned with the cost to the club.

A user on Twitter thinks Jurgen Klopp should give fellow Welshman Harry Wilson a chance.
