Liverpool fans send Harvey Elliott messages after serious injury

Liverpool fans have taken to social media to share their messages of support for Harvey Elliott after his injury against Leeds United.

The 18-year-old has been Liverpool ’s breakout star of the new campaign and was starting his third consecutive league game for Jurgen Klopp’s side at Elland Road.

A second-half challenge from Pascal Struijk saw the teenager receive medical attention immediately and earned the Leeds player a red card, with Jurgen Klopp confirminhg post-match that Elliott suffered a dislocated ankle.

Having earned a regular place in the starting line-up, ahead of captain Jordan Henderson against the Yorkshire side, supporters were left distressed after seeing Elliott stretchered off the pitch.

In a positive sign, Elliott applauded the crowd as he went off and has already posted an update on social media , suggesting he will remain focussed on his recovery.

A surprise addition to Jurgen Klopp’s first team setup, following his loan spell with Blackburn Rovers last season, Elliott has been a revelation in the Reds midfield.

Despite earning plaudits as a wide forward during his temporary spell in the Championship, the German coach has decided to utilise the youngster as a central midfielder, filling the space vacated by Gini Wijnaldum.

He has been involved in all four of the Reds’ Premier League games this season, retaining a starting spot after initially coming off the bench against Norwich in their opening game.

Impressing both supporters and the coaching staff during pre-season, the former Fulham player made a seamless step up to life in the senior side and will be hoping for a speedy recovery.
