Liverpool fans send Ben Davies message after first glimpse in AXA Centre training match

Liverpool fans have sent a message to Ben Davies following his appearance in a training match.

Davies joined the Reds at the end of the January transfer window, signing from Championship club Preston North End.

The defender arrived on the same day as fellow centre-half Ozan Kabak as Liverpool moved to bolster their ranks in the wake of an injury crisis at the back.

With Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all sidelined with long-term issues, manager Jurgen Klopp needed reinforcements.

However, Davies is still awaiting his first-team debut, with Kabak and Nat Phillips given the nod at the heart of the defence in recent weeks.

Davies did get a run-out in a Liverpool shirt on Saturday afternoon during the in-house game at the club's AXA Training Centre.

The 27-year-old lined up alongside Phillips and ended up on the wrong side of a 5-1 defeat as the team in the home shirts triumphed against the side in the away strip.

Ben Woodburn netted a hat-trick for the 'reds', with Kaide Gordon and Rhys Williams also on target for the victors.

The game was set up as Liverpool head into the international break, with no first-team fixture now until they take on Arsenal on April 4.

“It was everything we expected, and a little bit more because everyone was fully concentrated and enthusiastic,” Liverpool assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders told the club's official website.

“The variety in the type of goals, the conviction both teams played with was just great to see. All the senior players were pure examples – their character [was] top.

"I love that. You can lose games, but you should never lose team spirit.”

After the match, Liverpool supporters took to social media to address the appearance of Davies.

"Ah there you are. Hope you're settling in well. Your chance will come," said one on Twitter.

Another tweeted: "Keep working hard," while a third fan added: "He’s aliveeeeeee."
