Liverpool fans have given Virgil van Dijk a new nickname after the Netherlands faced Norway on Wednesday night.
In a match that was ultimately billed as the Reds centre-half against Erling Haaland, the pair earned each other’s respect.
The Borussia Dortmund striker labelled Van Dijk “the best defender” he had played against before the match and the pair battled it out on the pitch, with the Dutchman dislocating his finger during the game.
However, after the final whistle, the pair embraced each other following a 1-1 draw, with both players posting the same image to their Instagram stories. This led to Liverpool fans calling their defender ‘agent’ Van Dijk, with supporters hoping that they could sign the 21-year-old next summer.

Haaland has been tentatively linked with a move to Anfield for an extended period of time, with him developing into one of the most talented strikers in world football.
Coming up against Van Dijk on Wednesday night, the Norwegian opened the scoring, after Inter Milan’s Stefan de Vrij left him unmarked on the edge of the box.
Since arriving at Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020, he has scored 63 goals in 64 games across all competitions for the German side.
