Liverpool fans say the same thing after Cristiano Ronaldo's Premier League award

Cristiano Ronaldo has beaten Mohamed Salah to the Premier League's Player of the Month award for September.

The Manchester United striker was named as the winner from a six-man shortlist that included Salah and Ronaldo, as well as Antonio Rudiger, Ismaila Sarr, Joao Cancelo and Allan Saint Maximin.

This is the first time Ronaldo has won the award since March 2008, before he moved to Real Madrid the following year.

The 36-year-old returned to Old Trafford this summer after a spell in Italy with Juventus and he scored three goals for United in September.

Ronaldo scored twice in United's 2-1 win over Newcastle and once in their 2-1 away victory to West Ham.

However, many Liverpool fans have been left unhappy with the announcement given Salah's incredible form so far this season.

The Egyptian scored in all three of the Reds' Premier League games in September, with goals against Leeds United, Crystal Palace and Brentford.

Salah also scored his 100th Premier League goal in the Reds' 3-0 win over Leeds.

The fan vote was combined with those of a panel of football experts to decide the winner, but supporters didn't agree with the outcome.

Salah was last named the Premier League's player of the month in 2018, as he won the award back-to-back in February and March of that year.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was the last Liverpool player to claim the award in December 2019, while Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane have also won it recent years.

Supporters weren't the only ones that felt Salah was worthy of the award, as former England and Leicester City striker Gary Lineker also echoed the same message.
