Liverpool fans say the same thing about Diogo Jota after Cristiano Ronaldo goal for Portugal

Liverpool fans loved Diogo Jota's assist for Cristiano Ronaldo during Portugal's group stage match against Germany at Euro 2020.

Jota retained his place in the starting XI despite his performance against Hungary in their first group game being heavily criticised.

Ronaldo was unable to hide his disgust at the Liverpool attacker when he choose to shoot rather than pass to the Juventus forward in the first five minutes of the game.

Jota received more criticism on social media later in the game when he also opted against playing in Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

However, the 24-year-old quickly made amends during Portugal's game against Germany, controlling a fantastic pass from Bernardo Silva before laying on Ronaldo for an easy tap-in.

Jota's excellent control and vision was praised by Liverpool supporters who feel their forward was unfairly treated for his Hungary performance.

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville believed Jota suffered from a lack of confidence during his first game at the tournament.

He told ITV: "I think this is a good chance. His touch lets him down. Ordinarily there, Jota would take that towards goal and right into the top corner. With this one, he is nearest to goal (Gulacsi denies with his feet).

"A question mark over whether Fernandes was in a better position. I have some sympathy for him because I don’t think Fernandes would have had time to react."
