Liverpool fans respond to Man City being hit with Premier League charge

Manchester City have today been hit with a charge by the Premier League for over 100 alleged breaches of financial regulations following a lengthy four-year investigation.

And this comes after UEFA initially banned City from the Champions League for two years and fined roughly £27 million in 2020, but after a legal battle, those punishments were overturned.

City could therefore be bracing for another battle as they look to clear their name again. And independent commission will first examine the charges brought about by the Premier League.

Liverpool fans have taken to social media to react to the news of City's charge with one of the seasons called into question is 2013/14 - a year the Reds finished second to City.

One Liverpool supporter is hoping the Reds use the City news to 'get angry': "Hope LFC players get angry and use this as a catalyst."

News hit that titles could be taken away from City and that could include the 13/14 victory where Liverpool finished second. Is it time to 'get the bus ready'?

"Tell Brendan, Stevie and Flanagan to get the bus ready!"

This Manchester United fan had some strong views as to what should happen to City: "So if Man City are found guilty they can face fines and a point deduction from the Premier League. Sorry but for 12 years of cheating that punishment isn't enough, relegate them and take their titles off them."

This Reds fans has called for Kevin De Bruyne to leave City following the news and to join 'boyhood club' Liverpool: "KDB time to come to your boyhood club mate."

An Arsenal fan stated he 'feels sorry' for Liverpool, if City are found to be guilty: "If Man City are found guilty it’s actually Liverpool I feel sorry for . They are the ones who should have multiple titles over the past few years!"

Will second place actually get handed the Premier League trophy if City did get stripped of them? This Liverpool fan is wondering.

"If Manchester City do get stripped of their titles, which I doubt will happen. Will they actually hand the trophy to teams that finished second? Genuine question."

Cheekily, this Liverpool supporter highlighted how a possible transfer ban would result in Jude Bellingham joining the Reds.

"Man City transfer ban and Liverpool finishing 10th. Watch out, Real Madrid, we’re coming for him."

Meanwhile, Nick Harris took to Twitter to fire back to all of those insisting 'nothing will happen': "For anyone saying "Nothing will happen", well this IS something happening. A massive raft of charges arising from Man City systematically cooking their books for years, as some of us have repeatedly reported."
