Liverpool fans respond to Jurgen Klopp's suggestion for man to replace him as boss

Liverpool fans are seemingly against Jurgen Klopp's suggestion that Steven Gerrard should replace him as manager when he leaves his Anfield post.

Klopp is contracted until 2022 at Liverpool, and thinks Reds legend Gerrard - who is currently managing Rangers - would be the perfect man to take over the reins.

Liverpool fans have made it clear they would welcome the club legend back to Anfield following the German's departure, but they aren't entirely optimistic that the appointment would be a good one.

And many have pointed out that both Manchester United and Chelsea are struggling with inexperienced club legends in charge of their sides.

"If Gerrard ends up replacing Klopp as our manager then he must have racked up some major experience away from Scotland," tweeted one Liverpool fan.

"Cannot get into another Lampard/Ole situation. We need experience."

Another added: "Words can't describe how much I love Steven Gerrard and that's the biggest reason I don't want him to be our manager unless he proves to be world class."

A third wrote: "The job should be given on merit, no matter how amazing a player Gerrard was for us (my favourite player ever).

"I would rather remember Gerrard for the phenomenon he was as a player, rather than have that tainted with a bad stint as manager."

And a fourth concluded: "I believe after Gerrard is done with Scotland he should try a Championship job or be a part of the staff at Liverpool then he might just replace Klopp.

"He has to test himself in a stronger league. Germany won't be bad as well for further refining his craft."
