Liverpool fans respond to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain transfer message

Liverpool fans have made their voice heard in their desire to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remain at the club.

The 27-year-old has been forced to settle for small cameo roles this season, making just two starts in the Premier League.

A major reason for that has been a serious injury which kept him out of action for the first few months of the campaign.

However, from the turn of the year Jurgen Klopp opted to only use Oxlade-Chamberlain as a late substitute in games.

That was the case against Burnley on Wednesday night, but this time Oxlade-Chamberlain bagged his first league strike of the season.

With Oxlade-Chamberlain not featuring much this season, it has prompted uncertainty over whether or not he has a long-term future at Anfield.

Liverpool FC News asked fans on Twitter: “Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - keep, loan or sell?”

With an overwhelming 66.9 per cent of the 2,716 total votes, the majority of fans want Oxlade-Chamberlain to still be a Red for the start of next season.

Elsewhere, 28.2 per cent of fans voted to let Oxlade-Chamberlain leave permanently, while the remaining 4.9 per cent voted to let the 27-year-old depart on loan.

After scoring in the Reds’ 3-0 win over Burnley, Oxlade-Chamberlain acknowledged that it’s been a frustrating time for him at Anfield this season.

“I’ve felt pretty good for a while now, but for whatever reason it’s not been so easy with opportunities,” Oxlade-Chamberlain told LFCTV after the full-time whistle at Turf Moor.

“Sometimes that’s part of football, it’s not what you like.

“I’ve been kicking myself, trying to push and ask questions, but sometimes it doesn’t always go your way.

“The main thing is I stay focused. I’m absolutely delighted to be a part of this team and play for this football club, and that’s what I want to do.

“That’s all I've been focusing on really, trying to make sure that I work as hard as I can for the boys. Keep training well, keep giving the manager decisions to make, as the other lads have in a similar position to me at the minute.

“That’s all we can do, keep our heads down and whenever we get the opportunity, like tonight, I went on there and did something positive.

“I’d have liked to have done that a few more times coming on this season, but you have these spells in football sometimes and the main thing is I’ve been through difficult moments in my career.
