Liverpool fans react to Alisson absence with Man City looming

Alisson Becker has been ruled out of Liverpool's Premier League clash with Brighton due to illness.

There is no indication just yet regarding the severity of the illness, but Alisson has not been included in Jurgen Klopp's squad for the visit of the Seagulls to Anfield.

Caoimhin Kelleher starts in goal for the Reds, making his ninth senior appearances in all competitions and just his second in the Premier League.

Kelleher has not featured under Klopp for almost a month, with his last outing coming in the 4-1 victory over Aston Villa in the FA Cup.

Sadio Mane is also not available for Tuesday night's game, with the winger missing the weekend's win at West Ham United after picking up an injury against Tottenham Hotspur a few days before.

Alisson's absence represents another blow to Liverpool, who have been struck with problems to some of their first-team stars all season long.

Reds fans have been reacting to the news that the Brazilian goalkeeper won't be available for tonight's crucial clash with struggling Brighton.

Klopp is already missing four centre-back options in Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Fabinho and Joel Matip.

New signing Ben Davies is on the bench for this evening's fixture, but Ozan Kabak has not been included in the squad.

Diogo Jota is still missing through a knee injury and is not expected to be in contention for another couple of weeks.

Jota hasn't played for the Reds since their Champions League defeat to Midtjylland at the start of December.

If Liverpool manage to pick up their third successive victory this evening, then they can close the gap to second-place Manchester United to one point - after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side's 9-0 victory on Tuesday.

It's then a top-of-the-table clash for the Reds on Sunday as they welcome Manchester City to Anfield, in a game that is set to have huge repercussions in this season's title race.
