Liverpool fans notice what 'hero' Mike Dean did while Pep Guardiola raged on touchline

Mike Dean has made a habit of grabbing the headlines in recent years, and Sunday's 2-2 draw between Liverpool and Manchester City was no different.

The Premier League referee was the fourth official for yesterday's match at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp's side were pegged back on two occasions and forced to settle for a share of the spoils.

Experiencing joy down the left flank for much of the match, Manchester City found a way back into the game after constantly targeting James Milner at right-back.

The 35-year-old was booked in the first half by referee Paul Tierney for pulling back Phil Foden when on the attack and was forced to tread carefully for the remainder of the match as a result.

City felt Milner should have seen red with the scores at 1-1 after appearing to trip over Bernardo Silva when already on a yellow card, prompting a furious reaction from Guardiola.

The Sky Blues' boss ran over to Dean to question how the Liverpool vice-captain had not been dismissed, though the Premier League official stood motionless on the spot while chewing gum.

Dean simply stared at Guardiola as he became animated on the sidelines and appeared to be the calmest man inside Anfield as the former Barcelona boss lost his cool.

This was not the first time Dean has had to put up with such antics from Guardiola at Anfield, however.

The City manager was similarly livid during Liverpool's 3-1 win in November 2019 and began screaming 'twice!' at Dean having felt Michael Oliver had missed two possible penalties.
