Liverpool fans notice first Anfield change after £60m FSG investment

Work started in October on the expansion of the Anfield Road at Anfield to take the capacity of Liverpool’s stadium to over 61,000 and fans have spotted something new.

Liverpool’s fans have spotted the first steel being built into the redeveloped Anfield Road end as the work is anticipated to be completed for the start of the 2023 season.

Liverpool's £60m redevelopment of their famous stadium has been in the pipeline for some time at Anfield, with the initial public consultation beginning way back in November 2019.

The redevelopment of the stand will add another 7,000 seats to Anfield with the construction being done in the same as the redeveloped Main Stand - meaning there will be no impact on the capacity for home games as the work continues.

Liverpool’s unique relationship with the Anfield crowd is going to further increase with the addition of more fans in the stadium, giving the Reds an even greater boost in atmosphere.

With Jurgen Klopp ’s contract running out in 2024, the German will be able to feel what it is like to have over 60,000 Reds cheering the side on when the new stand is finished.
