Dutch referee Danny Makkellie will take charge of England's round of 16 clash with Germany tonight.
The 38-year-old was appointed as the match official and will take charge of his third Euro 2020 fixture after he officiated the opening match of the tournament between Turkey and Italy, as well as Finland and Russia.
Following the exits of Portugal, Holland and France, it could be England's best chance of going all the way and winning their first piece of silverware since 1966.
The winner of the clash with the Germans will set up a quarter-final against Ukraine or Sweden and with omens already in place, it's hard to separate the two sides going into the match at Wembley.
But Liverpool fans will have mixed memories over the Dutch official.
He has been in charge of four of the Reds' Champions League fixtures in recent years with the most recent appearance coming in the last 16 defeat to Atletico Madrid in March last year.
The match was overshadowed by the decision to allow the Atletico fans to travel to the country with the air of uncertainty surrounding the fast spreading of the coronavirus.
On the pitch, a calamitous clearance by Adrian pounced upon by Diego Llorente spelt a premature end of the Reds' European defence after Georginio Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino swung the tie in their favour.
But it wasn't to be with Llorente's brace and Alvaro Morata's late goal rubber-stamping the win and progression into the quarter-finals.
That season, he was in charge of Liverpool's 2-0 win in Austria as they beat RB Salzburg thanks to two quickfire goals from Naby Keita and Mohamed Salah.
He was also in charge of the second leg win over Porto which emphatically sent the Reds on course to their sixth European Championship.
Mane, Salah, Firmino and Virgil Van Dijk all scored to set up a semi-final with Barcelona.
England fans will be hoping that they can turn around their fortunes when Makkelie is in charge as they have won just one of the three matches he's taken charge of.
