Liverpool fans make very bold prediction after Nicolas Otamendi mistake

Liverpool fans reckon Aymeric Laporte's absence could be Manchester City's undoing this season, with many saying Nicolas Otamendi just isn't good enough.

The Citizens centre-back made a shocking mistake against Norwich on Saturday, which directly lead to City conceding at Carrow Road.

Otamendi thought he had more time than he did when he received the ball from fellow centre-back John Stones in his area.

But the Argentine was quickly closed down by compatriot Emi Buendia, who expertly dispossessed him and fed his team-mate Teemu Pukki.

The Finnish striker blasted the ball past Ederson from close range to extend Norwich's lead against the Premier League champions.

The mistake and subsequent goal resulted in Liverpool fans tweeting in their numbers.

"You don't win league titles with Stones and Otamendi at centre-back. That's why Liverpool will win it this year," tweeted one fan.

Another added: "Liverpool should have the league by the looks of it. Otamendi is City's Mustafi," and a third wrote: Otamendi and Stones will give Liverpool the League."

A fourth concluded: "This may be very reactionary but as a Liverpool fan, I genuinely think Nicolas Otamendi could be my favorite player of all time.

"He could be the one player that sees Liverpool over the line and finally allows us to win the League."

Laporte is out of action for Manchester City until January after he injured his knee in the 4-0 win over Cardiff City in August.
