The German goalkeeper's Anfield career was effectively ended by his performance after gifting goals to Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale as Real Madrid ran out 3-1 winners in Kiev.
Karius , who is currently nearing the halfway point of a two-year loan stint with Besiktas, has had to endure mass ridicule ever since with fans of Liverpool 's rivals quick to take pleasure in his two howlers on European football's biggest stage.
However, the Reds' fiercest rivals were given a taste of their own medicine as Manchester United took on Barcelona at the Nou Camp on Tuesday night.

With United trailing 1-0 from the first leg, Liverpool fans tuned in to see who Jurgen Klopp 's side could face in the semi-finals should they progress past Porto on Wednesday as Lionel Messi opened the scoring for Barcelona with an impressive long-range effort early on.
The Argentine scored his second of the night moments later following a horrific error from David de Gea as he let Messi's shot squirm under his body.
And Liverpool fans were quick to make the same point on social media with United's Champions League campaign seemingly coming to a premature end.
