Liverpool fans make Kylian Mbappe statement after first pre-season match

Liverpool returned to action as they took on Tranmere in a pre-season friendly at Prenton Park.

The Reds were crowned European champions little over a month ago but focus is now shifting to next season.

Jurgen Klopp selected a side much-changed from the win over Tottenham in Madrid with some youngsters getting a chance to impress.

Among them was Rhian Brewster, who was named on the bench for the Champions League final but is yet to make his senior debut.

But the teenager certainly impressed against Tranmere at Prenton Park.

Brewster scored his first goal with a clever flicked header following a cross from Harry Wilson.

He then had his second, reacting quickest to tap home after James Milner's effort had been saved.

Brewster is expected to be in the first-team plans next season and Liverpool fans were impressed with what they saw.

And some were even tipping him to emulate Kylian Mbappe, who has been linked with a move to Anfield this summer.

Speaking upon the return to pre-season, Klopp admitted Brewster would be like a new signing for Liverpool.

"He is a really big talent. We’re really looking forward to seeing him in training and all that stuff.

"It will be an important role for us, we planned an important role for him. So, new player."

Liverpool continue their pre-season schedule against Bradford this weekend with Brewster again likely to be involved.
