Liverpool fans loving Andy Robertson’s passion as Scot turns in 'man of the match' performance against Everton

It has taken a few months but Andy Robertson has now come of age in a Liverpool shirt.

The Scotland international turned in an epic performance against Everton on Friday night as he looks to make the left-back position his own.

And he may now have just done that.

£75million man Virgil van Dijk might have grabbed the headlines with his sterling debut being capped with a headed winner in a pulsating FA Cup Merseyside derby.

But it was Robertson who grabbed the attention of many Liverpool fans.

When he returned home after the match, it wasn’t just his car keys and mobile phones he emptied out of his pockets. Everton forward Yannick Bolasie had been in there, too, with Robertson containing and frustrating the French-born star.

The 23-year-old’s match stats made for enjoyable reading for anyone connected with the Anfield side or indeed Scotland, although given the latest reports Michael O’Neill might not have been that interested.

Robertson had 85 touches of the ball, completed 47 out of 53 passes and won five out of his six tackles. We could go on, so let’s:

4 clearances

3/4 long balls

2/2 aerial duels

1/1 shots on target

1/1 dribble

1 interception

1 key pass.

... and even took a bit of the limelight away from goal hero van Dijk (Liverpool FC)

His performance had Reds salivating at Anfield and on social media – especially because of his passionate celebration when van Dijk crashed home his late winner.

The former Queen’s Park, Dundee United and Hull star threw himself into a frenzy when the Dutchman scored, which you can see in the video above.
