Liverpool fans loved what Jurgen Klopp did to Dejan Lovren after the win against Tottenham

Liverpool maintained their push for the Premier League title with a hard fought 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

A header from Harry Kane after 47 seconds rocked Anfield, but the league leaders responded after the break with goals from Jordan Henderson and a penalty from Mohamed Salah.

The win restored the Reds' six point advantage over Manchester City after Pep Guardiola's side beat Aston Villa 3-0 on Saturday to cut the lead.

Speaking after the game, Jurgen Klopp insisted that he was happy with his side's performance as he praised Paulo Gazzaniga for his efforts in the  Tottenham  goal.

"I am really happy with the game, really happy," Klopp told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"Even conceding in the first minute, the boys were really there and they were good with the counter attacks, they were incredibly good.

"Alisson, without making a save, made the save, because he was so big and Son [Heung-min] had a really difficult angle.

"But apart from those two moments, it was a sensational game and we were completely spot on, we played good football, we played direct in the right moments and played in between, we crossed the ball and had so many good moments in the box.

"Never ever have I seen anyone being frustrated because we were missing chances, or because the Tottenham goalkeeper, what a game he had."

Klopp was then asked if that was the game of Gazzaniga's life, with the Liverpool boss adding: "Maybe he is young enough to have one or two more, but that was a proper game.

"You can get frustrated in situations like this, being 1-0 down and the goalkeeper always being there, it can be tricky.

"But ok, and it was a situation of pure will to finish it off."

Liverpool recalled Dejan Lovren to the starting line-up for the game after injury ruled out first choice centre back Joel Matip.

The Croatian international has fallen behind Matip in the pecking order this season, with Klopp preferring to use the Cameroonian next to Virgil van Dijk.

But Lovren was impressive for the majority of the clash against Spurs and it was clear that Klopp appreciated his efforts.

Captured on a tunnel cam by Liverpool's YouTube channel, the Reds boss is seen walking to his defender and giving him a big embrace.

Liverpool fans took to social media to reveal their delight at the show of affection from their manager.
