Liverpool fans love Robbie Fowler's tweet to Curtis Jones after Merseyside derby winner

Robbie Fowler knows a thing or two about scoring in the Merseyside derby.

But the Liverpool legend was delighted to see a new hero emerge as the Reds beat Everton 1-0 in the FA Cup third round at Anfield on Sunday.

And even more so because teenager Curtis Jones grew up in the same part of Liverpool as the man fans knew as 'God' during his time at Anfield.

The 'Toxteth terror' saluted Jones after the game, tweeting: "Hello Curtis Jones...put your hand up if you're from toxteth and have scored a winner in a Merseyside Derby."

Jones soon responded with a raised hand emoji.

Liverpool put themselves into the hat with a brave performance against a senior Everton team. Jones led the way with a world class goal, but there were standout performances all over the pitch from the likes of Pedro Chirivella, Yasser Larouci, Nat Phillips, Harvey Elliott and Neco Williams, as well as senior stars Joe Gomez, Adam Lallana and debutant Takumi Minamino.
