Liverpool fans love Gary Lineker's response to claims fate has put them top of Premier League

Liverpool fans loved Gary Lineker's response to the idea fate is helping drive Jurgen Klopp's side to Premier League glory.

In a post on Twitter the former Everton striker shared a BBC article which probed: "Is fate taking Liverpool to their first title since 1990?"

The 58-year-old presenter, who scored 48 goals for England, responded to the suggestion by writing: "No, but their football might."

Many supporters of the Anfield side agreed with Lineker, and the tweet subsequently received over 11,000 likes.

One Reds fan replied: "Every team need luck but my word I've loved watching us this year" while another added: "Gary you can see class"

Liverpool make the journey to Southampton

Their title rivals Manchester City have seven games to go and will host relegation battling Cardiff City on Wednesday night.

With six fixtures still to play on Friday.
