Liverpool fans were left shocked on Friday as Rafa Benitez announced that Everton had signed one of their former players.
The player in question was 37-year-old backup goalkeeper Andy Lonergan, who joins the very short list of those brave enough to make the move across Merseyside.
Lonergan picked up Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup medals in his season with the club, despite never making an appearance for the Reds.
Speaking in his pre-match conference, ahead of Everton’s game against Leeds, Benitez confirmed the short-term move after an injury to the club’s U23’s keeper.

"He's a player that can give us some experience as we needed to sort out this problem, just in case.
"We have a new signing, but maybe it's a player nobody was expecting."
Supporters quickly took to social media to share their joking dismay over the former Leeds man switching to their bitter rivals.
Despite having spent 11 years with Preston at the start of his career, Lonergan is now a journeyman reserve keeper.
Everton becomes his NINTH club since leaving Bolton in 2015, with his last league appearances coming in a loan spell with Rochdale in League One in 2019.
