Liverpool fans laugh at Sergio Ramos transfer rumours as Real Madrid captain 'linked'

Liverpool fans have are adamant there is no truth behind the latest reports linking the club with a move for Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.

The Spanish defender is out of contract with the La Liga champions and is yet to agree on a new contract.

90min report Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have all reached out to Ramos' representatives to let them know that they could be interested in the veteran defender if he wants to move to England.

With Liverpool facing a defensive crisis after long-term injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, there is lots of transfer speculation circulating ahead of the January transfer window.

David Alaba was heavily touted for an Anfield switch earlier this week, again with his contract up this summer.

Now it's the turn of Ramos, which for multiple reasons, has been rubbished by Liverpool supporters.

The history between Liverpool fans and Ramos makes the deal incredibly unlikely, in addition to the defender's age and the salary he would likely command.

Ramos was accused of deliberately injuring Mohamed Salah in the 2018 UEFA Champions League final which saw the Egyptian leave the field in tears and Liverpool eventually lose 3-1.

Given Liverpool's cautious approach in the transfer window since Jurgen Klopp's arrival, a move for Ramos doesn't stack up in any sense.

With Joel Matip, Fabinho and a line of talented youngsters, Liverpool are more likely to accelerate plans for the summer transfer window, if their targets are available, than bring in a stop-gap which could hamper the development of their highly-rated youngsters.
