Liverpool fans label Andy Robertson 'world class' after Scotland masterclass

Andy Robertson produced a captain’s performance for Scotland as he led Steve Clarke’s side to a dramatic 3-2 win over Israel.

A 94th minute winner from Scott McTominay at Hampden Park put Scotland 2nd in their World Cup qualifying group and the Liverpool left-back was at the centre of the victory.

Wearing the armband for his country, the Red defender delivered two assists - one either side of the half-time - to secure a vital three points in their World Cup qualifying campaign.

The win means that Clarke’s side are now four points clear of 3rd place Israel with three games remaining, while Liverpool fans were left drooling over Robertson’s display ahead of the Premier League’s return next weekend.

Having gone a goal behind, the full-back registered his first assist after playing a give and go with Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney before giving the ball to Aston Villa’s John McGinn on the edge of the box to provide a top corner finish.

Following a frantic first-half, which also saw Scotland miss a first-half penalty after falling behind once again, Robertson was on hand to deliver the perfect cross to put his country back on level terms.

An inch-perfect cross towards Lyndon Dykes was powered home by the striker, shortly after the interval, which also survived a VAR check for a high foot by the striker.

Robertson has endured a stop-start beginning to the new season, having missed the opening two games of the season through injury and being rested for last month’s victory over Crystal Palace.

However, the 27-year-old looked to be in top form on Saturday night and Jurgen Klopp will hope he can replicate a similar output when Liverpool travel to Watford next weekend.
