Liverpool fans hijack Ibrahima Konate tweet with message to £36m signing

New Liverpool signing Ibrahima Konate was spammed with replies from Liverpool fans.

The Reds confirmed last week that a deal was agreed to sign the centre-back from RB Leipzig, strengthening the position that was decimated by injuries in the previous campaign.

The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Anfield after the club paid his £36m release clause.

He joins Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Nat Phillips, Ben Davies and Rhys Williams as the centre-back options at Anfield.

Today (June 3) happens to be the 129th anniversary of when Liverpool Football Club was founded.

The club’s Twitter account posted a tweet commemorating the occasion, and Konate also got in on the act.

Quoting the club’s tweet, Konate simply put two heart emojis, following on from his previous tweet to endear him to Liverpool fans.

Supporters were quick to flood his replies, stating their excitement to see him don the Liverpool shirt for the first time.

Soon after Konate agreed to become a Liverpool player, he was in action for his country in the Euro U21 quarter-final.

Konate captained France as they lost to the Netherlands, and he will now rest up and prepare for pre-season training with Liverpool next month.
