Liverpool fans have new transfer request after stunning Euro 2020 display

Manuel Locatelli impressed Liverpool fans in Italy's dominant win vs Switzerland at Euro 2020

Fans implored Liverpool to make a bid for Locatelli after his stunning performance for Italy against Switzerland.

The Italians continued their strong form as they booked a spot in the last 16 beating the Swiss 3-0.

Locatelli's brace helped Italy to a win. He opened the scoring in the first half with a goal of his own making and rifled his second into the corner of the net from 22 yards early in the second half.

Reds fans took to Twitter to call on their club to make a move for the 23-year-old.

Jurgen Klopp may still look to bring in a replacement for the departing Gini Wijnaldum this summer.

The Sassuolo star is expected to leave the Serie A side and the club have an asking price of £34million according to Goal.

The midfielder plays excellently in both a six and eight role where he usually plays for Sassuolo and Italy respectively and could take on the part of a double-pivot.

The Reds would reportedly face competition from Juventus, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City if they bid for the Italian.

But they will have to wait until the end of the Euros to determine where Locatelli's future lies.

Speaking in an Italy press conference earlier this month, Locatelli said: “It’s just talk. There’s such an important competition to play in, and I’m only focused on this.

“I rely on what happens on the pitch, the real things. Everything else is just gossip, it’s useless to talk about it.

“It’s normal that there are market rumours, but the maturity I’m talking about is the step where I don’t allow myself to be influenced.

“I know that I will have to make some decisions after the European Championship. I talked to (Sassuolo CEO Giovanni) Carnevali, we are aware of the path to take.”
