Liverpool fans believe James Milner could move into a coaching role at the club once his playing career is over.
The 35-year-old is currently out with a hamstring injury he sustained in the win over Manchester United on Sunday and could have stayed at home on Wednesday night, but he decided to travel with the team for the Carabao Cup clash against Preston and offer his experience to the young side.
Milner was spotted on the Liverpool bench supported the youthful side who ensured Liverpool reached the quarter-finals of the competition thanks to goals from Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi.

And Liverpool fans believe the midfielder could take up a coaching role at Anfield when he calls time on his illustrious career.
Before the Preston game, Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders labelled Milner as the club's other 'assistant manager'.
He said: "We spoke already with him and he has a very important role to play.
"My title is assistant manager but we can also give that title to James Milner as well.
"He's that connection between this group and he is very vocal and sets the standards.
"He knows that and always does that well."
