Liverpool fans furious over Man City 'victims' chant ahead of Spurs Champions League final

Manchester City came out on top on Sunday after an enthralling title race with Liverpool came down to a final day showdown.

Liverpool needed to better City's result in order to overtake them once again at the top of the Premier League. When City fell behind against Brighton and the Reds leading against Wolves, Liverpool fans may have been forgiven for thinking it was actually their year.

But that belief would have lasted up to 10 minutes, as goals for Sergio Aguero and Aymeric Laporte turned the tie around, and put the reigning champions on their way to defending their title. Further goals from Riyad Mahrez and İlkay Gündoğan sealed the deal with a 4-1 win.

Celebrations followed, with City captain Vincent Kompany lifting the Premier League trophy on the AMEX Stadium pitch. There has been plenty of videos of subsequent festivities circulating on social media, including famous fan Noel Gallagher joining the players in the celebrations.

But, there is one particular video that seems to have riled some Reds fans. Manchester City players adapted Liverpool fans' 'allez, allez allez' chant, and gave it an airing after lifting the Premier League trophy. A

The original song refers to Liverpool's past European adventures, and the club have another one to look forward to as they take on Tottenham in the champions League final in Madrid early next month.

Tottenham reached the final by beating Manchester City in a thrilling quarter-final, before coming back against Ajax in the semi-final.

Fans were quick to condemn City players for some of the choice lyrics in the adapted versions - the term 'battered in the streets' is included, which Liverpool fans are presuming is a reference to Sean Cox, a fan who was seriously injured in Kiev last season.

Some also point out their rivals lack of European success.
