Liverpool fans furious at how Gary Lineker and Rio Ferdinand celebrated Lionel Messi's Barcelona goal

It was a night where there was talk that this Liverpool team is stronger than an aging Barcelona squad. The Merseyside outfit were supposed to be favourites for lifting another European trophy.

However, you can never really account for what Lionel Messi might do on a football pitch. Yes, the super-human Argentine might often be kept quiet when he comes to England, but at the Camp Nou he's often unstoppable.

Last night was one of those nights. It was rough for Jurgen Klopp's team, made worser still for fans after ex-talisman Luis Suarez opened the scoring and then celebrated against his former club.

The match was shown live on BT Sport and presented by Gary Lineker with punditry from Rio Ferdinand.

Lineker himself played for Barca but both players revere Lionel Messi, and rightly so. When Lionel Messi scores his third goal - a sublime free kick - towards the end of the game, the duo celebrated wildly.

The clip was then featured in BT Sport's 'No Filter UCL' package. It has since been posted on Lineker's social media and Liverpool fans hate it, despite Gary having no allegiance to the Reds.

However, some people have had a much more measured response to the situation.

What is your view on the situation?
