Liverpool fans disappointed as starlet left out of pre-season openers

Mateusz Musialowski's wait to feature in the Liverpool first team on Tuesday continues much to the disappointment of the fans.

The April Goal of the Month winner shot to Reds stardom after his superb mazy run against Newcastle United for Marc Bridge-Wilkinson's U18s.

He helped them on their route to the FA Youth Cup at Villa Park with another wonderful solo goal, this time at Anfield in front of an empty Kop against Arsenal.

Musialowski was one of the of youngsters who met up with Jurgen Klopp's side as they reported for the first day of pre-season in Salzburg with Kaide Gordon, Conor Bradley and Jake Cain amongst those selected.

During his time in Austria, it was announced that he signed his first professional contract with the Reds.

Liverpool fans had to wait for an opportunity to catch the first glimpses of their potential next star who missed both of the 30-minute friendlies with FC Wacker Innsbruck and VfB Stuttgart.

Still just 17, there is plenty of time for fans to catch the Pole in action, but for the opening two matches in Salzburg they will have to wait.

Tuesday's doubleheader did mark the return of Loris Karius to the Liverpool fold with Joel Matip and Trent Alexander-Arnold returning to action following injuries.
