Liverpool fans deliver verdict after Harry Kane told he'd be stupid not to accept transfer offer

Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton has said that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane would be "stupid" not to move to either Liverpool or Manchester City if one of those two clubs were to make a move for him.

The England captain has cast doubt about his Spurs future after revealing on Sunday that he would be open to leaving the club if they failed to make the progression that matches his ambition.

The striker, who has scored 17 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions this season, has immediately put a host of clubs on red alert with the fact that he has openly admitted to being open to explore a new venture.

Will Tottenham keep Harry Kane?

Amongst the clubs that have been heavily linked with Kane recently are Manchester United, who are planning to spend big this summer in an attempt to turn themselves back into genuine Premier League title contenders.

But it is United's neighbours City and Premier League champions-elect Liverpool that Kane would be wrong to turn down, should those two clubs make an approach the 2018 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot winner.

Sutton, appearing on BBC Radio 5 Live on Monday evening, said: "We all understand he wants to win something. So if he wants to win something, I wouldn't begrudge him a move.

"Spurs are a brilliant club, but at this moment in time they are way behind the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.

"If one of those clubs came in for him, if you were Harry Kane you would be be stupid not to go.

"I can understand the predicament he is in.

"But if he wants to win the Premier League, then he should move on and go to a club who have better chance of winning it than Spurs do."

Some Liverpool fans took to social media after Sutton's comments to express their opinion on a potential move for Kane.

The majority were in agreement that they did not want to sign the England captain as he would not get into the Reds' strongest line-up.

One tweeted: 'No we're alright thanks,' while another posted: 'He would be decent cover for Bobby Firmino.

'I'd have Bobby all day long ahead off him, he plays for himself, Bobby plays for the team.'
