Liverpool fans deliver FSG verdict after Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota transfers

What a difference two new faces can make.

Having fretted over the lack of arrivals for much of the elongated transfer window, Liverpool fans were left dizzied by a double arrival.

First, on Friday, came the capture of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich for an initial £20million.

But if that had been a long time coming, few had envisaged Diogo Jota of Wolverhampton Wanderers following barely 24 hours later, particularly for an outlay that could end up costing the Reds £45m.

With Kostas Tsmikas already on board, Liverpool have now splashed out more than £80m on new arrivals.

Some of that has been recouped by the sales of Dejan Lovren and, on Saturday, Ki-Jana Hoever. More are likely to follow.

But while the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City were strengthening their squads, some Reds fans were starting to become impatient at one group of people in particular.

The club's owners, Fenway Sports Group. Indeed, social media saw the rise of an #FSGOut movement by a small but visible section of the support.

How, though, do Liverpool fans view John Henry and company?

The ECHO ran a poll after news of Jota's imminent arrival was confirmed on Friday evening. The choice was simple: FSG in, or FSG out.

And with more than 26,000 fans responding, the verdict was pretty unanimous.

A whopping 90.2% declared themselves happy for the club's owners continue, with just 9.8% keen to see them depart.

Fans were also invited to have their say.

Darren Mulholland said: "Why would anyone want FSG out... what they're doing is top class."

Neil McElroy stated: "They have built steadily year on year. Sponsors are paying more, quality players are coming in, the entire club is moving forward. Compare now with when Premier League started."

Craig Anderson claimed: "It’s not even debatable. Even before the transfers, why would anyone even question FSG? What they’ve done for our club over the last 5 years is amazing."

Ross Haslehurst added: "Don't really understand why people were so FSG out this summer, the transfer window still has 3 weeks left yet people moaned about lack of activity after a week, clearly Edwards knew who he wanted and how much he could get them for it just took some time."

Matthew Higham said: "You may disagree with the owners way of doing things sometimes but to demand they leave, after all that's happened in their tenure? Idiots - all of them."

Nathan Duffy opined: "If somebody said before the window started we would sign a back up left back, Thiago and a forward to add competition to the front 3, I wouldn’t have believed you. FSG, Edwards and Klopp have worked wonders with this club."

And Malcom Govender concluded: "FSG out... still didn’t announce Mbappe, Varane and a young Messi."
