Liverpool fans create perfect banner for Joel Matip in Madrid for Champions League final

Liverpool fans have unveiled the perfect banner in appreciation of defender Joel Matip.

The centre back has strolled his way into Reds supporters' hearts with his increasingly impressive performances this season, dismissing any doubt that may have been in the back of the Anfield faithful's mind.

He's provided to be a worthwhile defensive partner alongside Virgil van Dijk, particularly when the club have really needed him to be with injuries to Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren.

Matip especially shone against Barcelona during the dramatic semi-final second leg in the Champions League, where his contributions enabled the Reds to shut out Messi and co with a clean sheet vital to securing a place in the Madrid final.

Now, some fans who have already arrived in the Spanish city for the game against Tottenham have taken along a banner that perfectly sums up their appreciation for Cameroonian international.

The flag has a red background with a picture of Matip adorned in the middle.

He is surrounded by a checklist that says: Phone, tick. Keys, tick. Wallet, tick. Messi, tick.

It is already proving a hit with fellow Reds fans with one commenting on Facebook "Well done boys, great that" and another added "Awesome! Brilliant! Well deserved!"
