Liverpool fans celebrate Timo Werner 'done deal' after RB Leipzig transfer hint

RB Leipzig have been busy trying to drum up support ahead of the return of the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Leipzig host Freiburg on Saturday as the first of Europe's major leagues returns to action behind closed doors, and with football on pause elsewhere Leipzig have been encouraging Twitter users to throw support behind their title push.

One post in particular has sent Liverpool fans into a frenzy, with RB Leipzig using striker Timo Werner to try and pique the interest of Reds fans.

They tweeted: "Reason 11: @LFC fans. You love Timo #Werner. So do we. Let's support him together!"

Werner's goalscoring exploits in recent seasons have caught the attention of a number of top clubs, with Liverpool joined by the likes of Bayern Munich and Inter Milan in pursuit of the striker.

However, it is a move to Merseyside that most seems to appeal to Werner, the striker having gone on record in expressing a desire to play in the Premier League under Jurgen Klopp.

The social media post teasing Liverpool's interest comes hot on the heels of Red Bull chief Ralf Rangnick declaring Liverpool the best fit for Werner.

And the talk from Germany has excited Reds fans, with one replying to the Twitter post: "So we're getting Werner?"

Another added: "Done deal then. Welcome to Liverpool."
