Liverpool fans all spot same Ismaila Sarr issue as transfer links resurface

Watford's Ismaila Sarr has once again been linked with a move to Liverpool as reports from Italy this week suggest the Reds have 'reignited' their interest in the winger.

Liverpool were reportedly interested in the Senegalese international last summer, but the club instead opted to sign Diogo Jota from Wolves.

Now, links have resurfaced and it's got plenty of Liverpool supporters talking.

Many fans are clamouring for the Merseyside club to sign a forward given both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will be off to AFCON in January, which is likely to give Jurgen Klopp a selection headache during one of the most intense periods of the season.

Amid recent links to Sarr, fans have pointed out that the 23-year-old would also depart for AFCON alongside his compatriot Mane.

"We need cover for our players going to AFCON not another one to go with them," one supporter tweeted.

Despite Transfermarketweb suggesting Liverpool are 'prepared' to splash £40m on the winger, Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has since shut down such rumours and said it will take 'silly money' to prise the star from Watford this summer.

The Express also claimed that the player was 'aware' of interest from Liverpool and has 'asked to leave' the club amid interest from the Reds.

Sheth also denied those rumours, citing that the player is under contract at Watford until 2024 and is 'happy' at the club'.

"There have been reports that Liverpool are interested in Watford winger Ismaila Sarr," Sheth said on Sky Sports' Transfer Show.

"It’s been claimed that Sarr has asked to leave Watford but, having made a few calls today, I’m told Sarr has not asked to leave and wouldn’t ask to leave because he is happy.

“Furthermore, I’ve been told Watford are simply not looking to sell Sarr, who is under contract until 2024, and it would take ‘silly’ money (I was given a figure of £80m) for them to even consider coming to the table.”
