Liverpool have been dealt an injury blow with the news that Joel Matip will miss the remainder of the season.
The Reds centre-back picked up a knock to his foot during the goalless draw with Everton earlier this month in the first match following the Premier League’s resumption.
The injury leaves Jurgen Klopp with just three senior centre-backs for the remainder of the campaign with Dejan Lovren providing back-up to the first-choice pairing of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
The Reds have already secured the Premier League title with seven fixtures left to play, and Klopp is likely to rotate his squad in the final matches of the campaign.
Many Liverpool fans have demanded that one player in particular gets a game ahead of senior centre-back Lovren, while others have urged Klopp to dip into the transfer market this summer.
