Marko Grujic will be a name that resonates with Liverpool fans for many years to come.
Not due to what he did at Anfield, but down to the fact he was Jurgen Klopp's first signing.
However, things haven't gone to plan for Grujic on Merseyside since he joined Liverpool from Red Star Belgrade in January 2016.
The Serbian has failed to ever make a real impression in Klopp's plans and has been forced to spend most of his five and a half years in England on loan elsewhere.
As Klopp has taken Liverpool to a place that would have been unimaginable five years ago, having won the two biggest trophies on offer, Grujic has seen himself slip down the pecking order at Anfield.
Now, with his contract expiring in 2023, combined with Liverpool's need to raise funds for their own purse this summer, Grujic could be close to a move away from Anfield according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Italian journalist has reported that Grujic could be a potential target to replace Euro 2020 star Manuel Locatelli who’s said to leaving Sassuolo this summer.
Liverpool fans have taken to social media to react to the reports that they are clearly very happy with.
Grujic has only appeared 16 times in all competitions for Liverpool under Klopp, with the midfielder more than doubling his appearances in his loan spell with FC Porto last season.
With two years left on his current deal, and Grujic now 25-years-old, it seems like the perfect time for both player and club to move on.
