Newcastle United have announced that Rafael Benítez will leave the club when his contract expires on June 30.
The former Liverpool boss has failed to agree a new contract with the Magpies and he will leave in six days time.
Benitez helped Newcastle finish the season in 13th position but he will now depart after failing to get the assurances he wanted from owner Mike Ashley.
The 59-year-old took the Reds to the Champions League in his first season at Anfield in 2005 and despite departing in 2010, Benitez has retained a family home on Merseyside for 15 years with his wife Montse and children settled in Wirral.
A statement from Newcastle read: "It is with disappointment that we announce manager Rafael Benítez will leave Newcastle United upon the expiry of his contract on 30th June 2019.
"We have worked hard to extend Rafa’s contract over a significant period of time, however it has not been - and will not be - possible to reach an agreement with Rafa and his representatives.

"Rafa’s coaching staff, Paco de Míguel Moreno, Antonio Gómez Pérez and Mikel Antia, will also leave the club on 30th June."
