Liverpool fan wins £1,000 in last minute bet on Barcelona thanks to unborn daughter

A Liverpool fan won £1,120 in a last-minute bet inspired by his unborn daughter.

Carl Green, 32, and pregnant partner Lyndsay Rudd were preparing to watch The Red's huge Champions League semi-final second leg at home last night.

The supermarket worker, of Southport, Merseyside, started singing Liverpool songs to his unborn daughter who seemed uninterested - until she heard forward Divock Origi's name.

She only then started 'kicking' and moving around, Liverpool Echo reports.

So Carl put on a last-minute £5 punt on his side to win 4-0 - and 24-year-old Origi to score the opening goal.

Andy Robertson provides injury update after being taken off during Liverpool vs Barcelona

"So I took that as a sign that he was gonna do something special and I know just how historic big European games have been at Anfield, so was feeling more and more confident that tonight would be up up there with the best.

"So that was when I decided to do Origi 1st goal along with the 4-0 as I was confident we could do it in the 90 minutes! Especially after being so unlucky at the Nou Camp last week and to not even get a goal despite the chances."

But when asked how he'll spend the cash, the dad-to-be, joked: "The Mrs will see to that!"

Liverpool will now either face Ajax or Tottenham Hotspur in the final of the tournament in Madrid, Spain, in June.

Spurs go into their second leg tonight 1-0 down on aggregate .
