Liverpool fan's 'miracle' Barcelona bet thanks to his unborn baby

A supermarket worker won over £1,000 thanks to a last minute bet inspired by his unborn baby.

LFC fan Carl Green and his partner Lyndsay Rudd were sitting at home when Carl started singing Liverpool fan songs to his unborn daughter just before Liverpool's Champions League semi-final clash against Barcelona.

The little girl seemed uninterested in her dad's singing - until  when she heard Divock Origi's name when she started 'kicking' and moving around.

The dad-to-be, who works at Morrisons in Southport, took it as a sign and decided to take a punt that Origi would score first and the Reds would pull off a miraculous 4-0 win against the Catalan giants.

Moment Anfield erupts into You'll Never Walk Alone as Liverpool FC fans celebrate incredible Champions League result

Carl told the ECHO "My Mrs is pregnant with a baby girl, 21 weeks, and before the game we were singing Liverpool songs to her - allez, allez, allez; Virgil van Dijk etc.

"But when we sang Origi's,  Lyndsay said 'oh she liked that one she's wriggling around like mad'!

"So I took that as a sign that he was gonna do something special and I know just how historic big European games have been at Anfield, so was feeling more and more confident that tonight would be up up there with the best.

The powerful Anfield moment that sums up what it means to be a Liverpool FC fan

"So that was when I decided to do Origi 1st goal along with the 4-0 as I was confident we could do it in the 90 minutes! Especially after being so unlucky at the Nou Camp last week and to not even get a goal despite the chances."

Carl bagged an impressive haul of over £1,120 for his last minute £5 bet.

When asked how he'll spend the money, the 32-year-old from Southport, joked: "The Mrs will see to that!"
