Liverpool fan makes Adam Lallana 'bet' just before goal against Man United

Andy Grant may not have been the only Liverpool fan who lacked faith in Adam Lallana yesterday.

The midfielder came off the bench to replace Jordan Henderson as the Reds were chasing an equaliser at Old Trafford.

Lallana was without a goal in 29 Premier League appearances with his last strike coming in May 2017.

That was enough to make Reds fan Andy, who became the world's fastest single leg amputee (over 10km) in 2016, predict the midfielder would have little impact on the game.

He posted on Twitter: "Lallana coming on? Let's make a bet.

"If Lallana does anything positive in this game I will guarantee my leg will grow back by next Friday."

A bold claim from the former Marine, who lost his leg in 2010 after he was caught in an explosion in Afghanistan in 2009.

As time was running out for Liverpool , Andy Robertson put in a low cross from the left wing that was missed by United defender Victor Lindelof.

Who was there to finish the move off and bring the Reds level? Of course it was Adam Lallana.

The midfielder had looked lively before his goal and was in the right place at the right time to finish off the Liverpool attack.

After the goal Andy responded to his original tweet. He joked: "Can't wait to not be an amputee on Friday."

Liverpool's 1-1 draw at Old Trafford means they now have a six-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, with Man City back in second.

The Reds take on Genk on Wednesday night in the Champions League, before they are back in domestic action against Spurs at Anfield on Sunday.
