Liverpool fan forced to explain himself on The Chase to confused Bradley Walsh

A Liverpool fan was forced to explain himself to a confused Bradley Walsh on today's episode of The Chase.

Deepak, 35, chatted to host Bradley before he took on The Menace, Darragh Ennis, who was tonight's Chaser.

Deepak said he was a university lecturer currently working in foundation studies, but in his spare time he enjoyed playing football and watching the sport.

Bradley asked him who he supported and Deepak said: "Liverpool."

Bradley asked him why Liverpool because he lived in Birmingham and Deepak said: "Lots of my family support Liverpool."

But Bradley said: "How many teams are there in Birmingham area, around eight, why Liverpool?"

Deepak defended himself and said: "The first game of football I watched was Liverpool coming back and drawing with Manchester United and it's been an emotional connection ever since."

Bradley said: "Fair enough then" but viewers were quick to comment on the exchange between the pair.

Roz Laws said: "Well done Bradley! You’re right, the Brummie shouldn’t support Liverpool."

And Simon the cynical said: "Brad calling out glory hunters."

Deepak managed to score £5,000 in his cash builder and he decided to play for what he'd earned as he went up against Darragh.

Thankfully Deepak managed to do well in his head to head and took the cash back to his happy team.

*The Chase continues at 5pm on ITV on Monday
