Liverpool face two new injury concerns as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain return fast-tracked

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is in line for his first Liverpool appearance of the season when the champions take on Fulham on Sunday.

The England international has endured a frustrating spell on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury in pre-season.

However, the 27-year-old returned to full training ahead of Wednesday’s draw with FC Midtjylland and could be in the squad this weekend.

“Oxlade is in normal training,” Klopp confirmed. “He has been doing parts of training now for a week or so, he is now in full training and we will see.

“So the situation probably demands to involve him as soon as possible, but I don’t know if the weekend is that already.

"We cannot and will not rush it, but when he's long enough in normal team training then of course he becomes an option immediately. It's good, absolutely good."

Goalkeeper Alisson is also nearing a return to first team action. The Brazilian has missed the last three Liverpool games, with Caoimhin Kelleher serving as an able deputy.

But ahead of the trip to Craven Cottage, Alisson will take part in the Reds’ final training session and unless he encounters any issues, will be available.

“Ali will train today, that’s what I’ve heard. I came in and came directly to the press [conference] so all the meetings are after that and yes, Ali will train and if he trains and all fine, then he can play,” Klopp said.

It’s not all good news for Liverpool however, with Klopp confirming summer signings Diogo Jota and Kostas Tsimikas both pickied up knocks during the draw in Denmark.

On the pair, he added: “We had a game two days ago and after the game we obviously had some niggles I would say, but [they] can be more, we have to see. The diagnoses are not finally done.

“Kostas we have to see, Diogo we have to see - he got a knock as well. That’s it from the game, I think.”
