Liverpool face injury concern as Xherdan Shaqiri limps off for Switzerland

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be concerned after Xherdan Shaqiri limped off injured during the second half of Switzerland's clash with England on Sunday afternoon.

The pair were facing off in the UEFA Nations League third-place play-off final, after both sides being beaten 3-1 in their respective semi-finals in Portugal.

And with the game goalless, the Reds attacker, who started the match for his side, was forced off with what appeared to be a muscle injury just after the hour-mark.

Despite having no-one around him, the 27-year-old appeared to pull up holding his calf and immediately signalled to the bench to be replaced.

It remains unclear at this stage about how severe the injury might be, but the former Stoke City man looked in a lot of discomfort as he headed towards the sidelines.

He then went straight down the tunnel to the medical room to be assessed.

Shaqiri made 30 appearances and scored six times in his first season with the Reds, lifting the Champions League at the end of an impressive campaign.
