Liverpool 'face fight from Man Utd nemesis' to sign Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez continues to be linked with a sensational return to Liverpool.

The Uruguayan striker joined Atletico Madrid last summer and he's played a key role in their title charge this season.

Suarez has scored 19 goals in 26 games for Atletico, who sit top of La Liga with eight games to go, after completing a free transfer from Barcelona.

However, reports in Spain claim that Suarez has been left drained by Diego Simeone's demanding style of football and it's been suggested that he could move on after just 12 months at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Liverpool has been mooted as a possible destination following Suarez's brilliant three-and-a-half year spell at Anfield, which saw him score 69 times in 110 Premier League appearances.

Suarez always speak fondly of his time at Anfield and has repeatedly stressed that he could never play for another Premier League club.

"If I had to return to the Premier League, I would only go to Liverpool. I wouldn’t go to another team," he said in an interview with former Reds defender Jamie Carragher for the Daily Mail in 2016.

If Jurgen Klopp does want to bring Suarez back to Merseyside, Liverpool will face competition from a familiar foe.

Deportes Cuatro claim Inter Miami - who are owned by Manchester United legend David Beckham - are also trying to tempt the forward away from Atletico

Beckham is trying to attract marquee names to his MLS franchise and was reportedly interested in signing Suarez last year before he signed for Atletico.
