Liverpool Fabinho injury latest as midfielder withdrawn from Brazil squad

Liverpool are waiting to discover the length of Fabinho’s absence - but will have to do without the Brazilian for at least the next three games.

Fabinho has been withdrawn from his country’s squad for their World Cup qualifying double header against Venezuela and Uruguay next month, replaced by Everton midfielder Allan.

Fabinho was forced off with a suspected hamstring problem after half-an-hour of Liverpool’s Champions League win over FC Midtjylland on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old has undergone scans on the issue to ascertain the extent of the damage.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp will deliver an update on Fabinho’s condition when addressing the media on Friday.

But it is now clear Liverpool will have to do without Fabinho until after the forthcoming international break at the earliest.

The Brazilian, who has been deputising at centre-back with Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip injured, will miss Saturday’s Premier League visit of West Ham United.

He will also be absent from the Champions League clash at Atalanta next Tuesday along with the trip to League Cup winners Manchester City five days later.

Liverpool resume after the international break by entertaining Leicester City on November 21.

With Matip likely to remain out at the weekend, 19-year-old Rhys Williams is in contention to make his Premier League debut alongside Joe Gomez at centre-back.
