Liverpool FA Cup stance pays off as supporters give youngsters huge backing

Liverpool have confirmed that tonight’s FA Cup fourth-round replay against Shrewsbury Town has sold out.

Tickets for the game were available at the reduced rate of £15 for adults, £5 for young adults and £1 for kids.

The move came after Reds boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed that neither he nor any of his first team stars would be participating in the tie, insisting that his side would respect their winter break instead.

"Since Sunday’s result, we have been in discussions with Shrewsbury Town on the price points for next week’s replay at Anfield," Liverpool said in a statement released following the confirmation of prices.

“For someone like us if we are playing Liverpool’s first team you are generating up to £600,000 as opposed to £100,000.

“At a club like ours every penny counts. That is the biggest disappointment that we will lack revenue.”

Both clubs split the ticket revenues 45 per cent each with the FA taking the remaining 10 percent, with Shrewsbury now expecting to make between £100,000 and £150,000.

The winner of tonight's clash will go on to face Chelsea away in the next round.
