Liverpool evening headlines as Trent Alexander-Arnold responds to Jose Mourinho claim

Here are your Liverpool evening headlines for Thursday, December 17.

Moments you might have missed

Liverpool's 2-1 win over Tottenham was full of dramatic moments, none less than Roberto Firmino's thumping winner. But there were plenty of other moments that you might have missed.

Richard Keys, now of beIN SPORTS, believes that Jordan Henderson fouled Eric Dier in the build-up to Firmino's header and the goal should have been chalked off. Keys, it should be said, is not known for his pro-Liverpool takes.

One especially boisterous Liverpool supporter shouted at Jose Mourinho, instructing him to sit down instead of prowling his technical area. When Mourinho obliged, ironic cheers reverberated around Anfield.

Finally, Naby Keita did not quite make his return from injury. Standing on the sidelines in full kit, waiting to be introduced from off the bench, the full-time whistle went and the midfielder was unable to take to the pitch.

Alexander-Arnold's three-word response

After his team's 2-1 defeat, Mourinho stated the belief that his team deserved something from the game, even claiming that one point would have been a poor return.

Speaking to Amazon Prime Sport, he said: "We had the chances, we had the game under control. A draw would be a bad result in relation to the performance, so you can imagine how we feel with the defeat.

"A very good performance, of course with some mistakes and some things to improve but a great performance. A very unfair result."

Trent Alexander-Arnold, though, had the perfect response. In his post-match tweet, he simply shared a photo of Liverpool celebrating with the caption: "Best team won."

Mourinho launches fresh Klopp attack

At the full-time whistle, Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp clashed, with the pair seen in a somewhat heated conversation.

Mourinho was asked about the incident after the match, revealing that they had a difference of opinion on the match.

"I told him the best team lost and he disagreed, but that’s his opinion," Mourinho told Amazon Prime Sport. "By the way, if I behaved the same way on the touchline like he does, then I have no chance of staying there and I’m out for a minute."

Klopp then responded: "My English is worse than I thought. He's next to me - maybe you ask him? I thought he said to me the better team lost. Nothing about my behaviour on the touchline."
