Liverpool evening headlines as Thiago message sent and Mohamed Salah replacement identified

Here are your Liverpool evening headlines for Thursday, December 31.

Thiago’s message to fans

Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has sent a message to Reds fans after making his comeback from injury in the draw vs Newcastle United.

The Spaniard had been out of action since suffering a knee injury in the 2-2 draw against Everton in the Merseyside derby back in October.

He came on as a second-half substitute vs Newcastle on Wednesday night, playing the final 17 minutes of the game, although he couldn’t help Jurgen Klopp’s side take more than a point from the match.

After the match, the midfielder is looking to the future after completing his comeback.

"Back on track. Time to move on. Up the reds! #YNWA,” he tweeted.

Salah replacement identified

Former Liverpool midfielder Did Hamann has identified Bayern Munich forward Kingsley Coman as an ideal replacement for Mohamed Salah should he move on in the future.

Salah has been linked with moves to Barcelona and Real Madrid but is unlikely to move on from Anfield anytime soon.

However, Hamann has said that Liverpool should move for Coman should the opportunity come about.

"Two of the best wingers in the world are [Serge] Gnabry, who was at Arsenal, and Kingsley Coman – he is running riot at the moment," Hamann told Stadium Astro .

"Would they want to leave Bayern Munich? I don’t think so but you don’t know.

"I don’t know if there is anything in Salah giving an interview or wanting to go to Spain . If he wants to leave, Barcelona and Real Madrid would be interested.”

Alexander-Arnold reveals strongest player

Full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has revealed that Mohamed Salah is one of the strongest players in the Liverpool squad, describing the Egyptian as an ‘animal in the gym.’

The forward has scored 13 goals in the Premier League so far this season, putting him at the top of the goalscoring charts.

"Mohamed Salah is an absolute animal in the gym! I really admire him for his dedication to the sport and his passion for what he does as part of the Liverpool team,” Alexander-Arnold told Joe.co.uk .

"I think he's a great role model for younger players and we are always impressed by his skills and mindset."

The defender also revealed who lifts the heaviest weights, and it’s perhaps no surprise.

"While lifting heavy weights isn't usually part of our training regime, I have to say I think Van Dijk lifts the heaviest weights in the gym," he added.

"I'm always impressed by his dedication to staying strong and fit."
