Liverpool evening headlines as Thiago explains Fabinho role and RB Leipzig make bold prediction

Here are the Liverpool evening headlines on Thursday, March 11.

Thiago explains Reds form and makes Fabinho claim

Thiago Alcantara has admitted he has not be happy with his form since arriving at Anfield, while he heaped praise on Fabinho after his role in Liverpool's comfortable Champions League win.

Thiago has struggled for consistency since arriving from Bayern Munich last summer, but the midfielder was very impressive in the 2-0 win over RB Leipzig on Wednesday.

The Spain international has now admitted he himself has not been pleased with what he's done so far in a Reds shirt.

He said to TNT Sports Brasil: "I don't read a word about what people talk about me.

"I know that I receive some criticism about my performances, but I'm not happy with my performance since I came here."

Thiago also went into detail about how Fabinho's return to the Liverpool midfield against Leipzig allowed him to play a bit more of a free role.

"He is a great player," said Thiago, speaking to liverpoolfc.com. "He gives us a lot of confidence in our backs, and it's awesome to play alongside him.

"It frees me up a bit, I can move some lines forward and with that I can be more confident and player (nearer) with the strikers."

What Phillips did to Mane

There were plenty of moments that may have gone unnoticed in Liverpool's 2-0 win over RB Leipzig on Wednesday night.

One of them might well have been what Nat Phillips did to his Reds team-mate Sadio Mane.

Phillips - who was phenomenal for Jurgen Klopp's side in Budapest - headed about everything that came his way against the German side.

That includes Mane, who was caught in between of Peter Gulacsi and the Liverpool centre-back, and was clattered into by the latter before requiring treatment to his head.

Leipzig's bold Champions League prediction

RB Leipzig have sent a classy message of congratulations to Liverpool following Wednesday night's second-leg of the Champions League Round of 16, while also making a slightly bold prediction.

The Reds progressed 4-0 on aggregate after Mohamed Salah and Mane scored one each in both leg to keep Klopp's team's hopes alive.

Leipzig posted on Twitter after the game saying Liverpool's win was "well deserved" and wished the Premier League champions "all the best for the rest of the season".

As part of the message, Leipzig also wrote: "See you again next year!"

"Bold of you to assume we’ll qualify lads," Liverpool fan @LFC_Webb replied to Leipzig's tweet.

However, the German side simply wrote back: "No doubts".
